Differentiation with Technology

Differentiation with Technology On day one, the laptops will be used for the warm up. The students will log onto their My Path and see a teacher assigned interactive practice game. This will walk them through multiplying fractions with whole numbers. It will take about 15 minutes. We will then discuss any "Aha's" they had or any "Opps" they have. "Aha's" are things that now make sense to then and "Opps" are things that they are still unsure about. We then begin the lesson.  To ensure students are on task, I walk around and give praises or redirections as necessary. This promotes diverse cultural perspectives because all students will have a different "Aha" and "Opps" which can both be due to their cultural perspectives (Wilkerson).  On day two, students will use their laptops to post their new problem. They will think of real-world examples of multiplying a fraction by a whole number and they will create a math word p...

The main strategy I used are the random partner tickets. This is I pass out the tickets to every kid randomly. Then they have to quietly find their partner and pick a place to sit in under one minute. An example of what might be on the ticket it one might have a slice of bread with jelly on it. This person needs to then find the partner that has a slice of bread with peanut butter on it because they go together and are therefore partners. My students have been using these since the beginning of the year and know the rules. Some students do not enjoy being partnered up randomly, so there is always the discussion that sometimes we work with people we may not want to work with, however we treat them with respect and kindness. Other students love these because it is a fun way to find your partner and it is always random so they may work with someone they do not always work with. Thinking about readiness with my class refers to, "a student's entry point relative to a particular con...

According to the research journal “The Effect of the Community of Inquiry (CoI) Learning Model and Learning Style towards social Skills, they discuss how “learners should be given more space and opportunity to explore constructing knowledge, both individually and in groups for learning is very adequate facilities, adapting to characteristics and learning styles,” (Syarifuddin et al., 2019). Knowing the learning style inventory of the student’s teachers work with can allow the teachers to accommodate for those learning styles in the lessons. For verbal learners teachers can have them read out loud to the class (Somji, 2018) . This would help the verbal learner and the aural learner. The teacher could also ask the verbal learner to teach another student in class certain material. For kinesthetic learners teachers should use physical movements and hands on experiences in the lesson (Somji, 2018) . I remember in my eighth-grade algebra class to learn w...
